Decluttering 7: Digital clutter again!

 Hey all,

I had touched in one of my first decluttering posts about digital clutter, especially around emails. I want to make a post specifically about digital clutter, whether it be your hard drive or your email inboxes. I have two main email accounts and it is important to stay on top of your inboxes! One email is used more than the other but it is important to keep your inbox tidy! As well, I will be talking about smartphones and making sure they are tidy so you can fit your documents, files photos, etc. on there.

With email accounts, you can make folders for important stuff, even if you've already read the email. Always put a star/mark the email important so you don't delete it by accident! I have several folders on my main email account. Make sure at least once a month you tidy your inbox by filing important emails in your folders and ditching old ones like for example retail newsletters that are especially about a sale no longer being held. Make sure you check your spam for important emails and move them to your main inbox/ or move it to the appropriate folder. Sometimes real emails end up in spam. Most times, spam is spam and often scammy.

One thing I tend to forgot to delete are old survey links whether or not i got to do the survey in time. Surveys from two months ago that are unread are highly likely to be null at the moment.

When it comes to smartphones, we can also tidy up our apps. Delete ones you never use and never intend to use as long as it doesn't screw up your smartphone. (i.e. delete games, not important os stuff.) Make folders and name them and put the apps into the folders so you spend less time looking for specific apps, although I did this and now I still don't know where everything is haha!

On your laptop if you have one, organization is great for your photos and your documents as well. Name folders and make sure the right documents go in the right folders! Backing up your files is paramount. Good thing there are the clouds and different backup services. There are various ways to back stuff up.
